Rostherne is a hushed estate hamlet above Rostherne Mere, the deepest of the Cheshire meres and a national nature reserve. The mere itself is closed to the public for the sake of the birds, but you can glimpse it from the churchyard of St Mary’s on the hill. A handful of cottages, no through traffic, and very peaceful. Ashley station is about 3km to the east.
