Straddling the Bridgewater Canal, Lymm has an old sandstone cross at its heart and a wooded ravine — the Dingle — running down to Lymm Dam, a big reedy lake that’s now a favourite walking spot. It’s a lively village with good pubs and a Tuesday market, and the canal towpath makes for easy strolling in either direction. Glazebrook is the nearest station, about 6km to the north.
