Ickwell keeps a permanent maypole on its broad green — a rarity — and dances round it every May Day, a village festival with roots going back centuries. Thatched cottages and a cricket pitch ring the green. Come for the May Day celebrations, when a May Queen is crowned and morris sides dance. Sandy station is about four km north-east.
