Across the Ribble from Settle, Giggleswick is the quieter twin — a knot of narrow lanes and stone houses around St Alkelda’s church. It’s best known for Giggleswick School, whose green-copper chapel dome, built around 1900, is a landmark for miles. The village has its own station on the Bentham line a little way out. Handy for the Ribblesdale walks without Settle’s bustle.
