One of only two churches in the country dedicated to St Alkelda, an obscure Saxon saint (the other is over at St Mary and St Alkelda’s in Middleham). It sits in Giggleswick, just across the river from Settle, and is mostly 14th and 15th century, with a squat battlemented tower. Long tied to Giggleswick School next door, whose green-domed chapel is the bigger local landmark. Open daily, and Settle station is only about a kilometre away.
