Ferryside is a waterside village strung along the eastern shore of the Tywi estuary, looking across the sands to Llansteffan and its castle on the far bank. The railway runs right along the front, and the station is in the village; at low tide a wide foreshore opens up for cockling and walking. A passenger ferry once crossed to Llansteffan, which gave the place its name.
