Dylan Thomas's estuary town with boathouse and castle.
Laugharne sits on the Taf estuary and is bound up with Dylan Thomas, who wrote in a shed above the Boathouse here and is buried in the churchyard; the township is often taken as the model for Under Milk Wood’s Llareggub. A ruined medieval castle stands over the water, painted by Turner in the 1830s. The Boathouse is open as a museum, and the town keeps an ancient corporation with its own peculiar customs.
