Pendine Sands is a seven-mile stretch of hard, flat sand on Carmarthen Bay, and in the 1920s that made it a racetrack. Malcolm Campbell set world land-speed records here in 1924 and 1927, and J.G. Parry-Thomas was killed on the sand in 1927 when his car Babs overturned at speed. The beach is open to walk and drives in stretches; a small museum in the village tells the story. Whitland station is about 9km to the north-west.
