Kidwelly’s castle is one of the best-preserved in Wales, a concentric fortress begun in the 12th century above the Gwendraeth estuary, its twin-towered gatehouse still standing intact. The small town below has a medieval church and an old industrial museum on the site of a former tinplate works. Cadw looks after the castle, which is a short walk from Kidwelly station.
