St Mary’s Church at Croscombe holds a soaring Jacobean screen of carved black oak, with a matching pulpit and box pews — rare survivors from the early 1600s. The village itself sits in the valley between Wells and Shepton Mallet. Castle Cary station is around 12km to the south-east.
