Just east of Chester, Christleton is a neat village of sandstone and brick gathered round a pond and green, with St James’s church close by. The Shropshire Union Canal skirts the edge, which makes for a flat, easy towpath walk back into the city — a little under 4km. A pleasant place for a stroll rather than a day out.
