Grosvenor Park is Chester’s grand Victorian park, laid out by Edward Kemp in the 1860s after the 2nd Marquess of Westminster gave the land to the city. It’s rated one of the best-preserved Victorian parks in the country, and a multi-million-pound restoration a decade ago brought back a café in the old lodge and a proper summer season of open-air theatre. Free to walk round any day, it sits right on the bank of the River Dee, a short stroll from Chester Cathedral.
