Gary Usher’s Elite Bistro group, the team behind Sticky Walnut, took this shuttered Cheshire local and reopened it as a proper village pub with a bistro kitchen: a snug for a fireside pint, a dining room for seasonal plates and Sunday roasts. It stands between Chester and Wrexham in the Dee countryside. Pair a visit with a towpath walk on the Shropshire Union Canal, or a look round the village of Christleton.
