Often called one of Yorkshire’s prettiest villages, Burnsall curls around a bend of the Wharfe where a fine five-arched bridge crosses the river. The green runs right down to the water, a favourite spot for a paddle or a picnic and the start of the riverside walk to Grassington. Its annual fell race and August feast sports go back well over a century. Appletreewick lies just upstream, Hebden a little way on.
