Linton gathers around a beck you can cross three ways at once — by clapper bridge, by packhorse bridge, or by stepping stones — with the Fountaine Inn and a set of almshouses looking on across the green. The almshouses, Fountaine’s Hospital, were endowed by a local man, Richard Fountaine, in the early eighteenth century. It’s one of the most photographed corners near Grassington, just over the river, and Threshfield is a short stroll away.
