Small and quiet, Conistone faces the great overhang of Kilnsey Crag across the Wharfe. Behind the village a dry limestone gorge, Conistone Dib, gives a short scramble up onto the high ground with wide views over the valley. A footbridge and old packhorse route link it to Kilnsey opposite. Kettlewell lies up the dale and Grassington down it.
