Norse-carved hogback grave slabs, over a thousand years old, sit inside St Wilfrid’s along with fragments of pre-Conquest crosses gathered from the area, evidence a church stood here by around 875. The present building is mostly early 16th century, with a round Norman font still in use. It’s a much-loved spot beside the bridge over the Wharfe at Burnsall. Open daily; the Red Lion sits right by the river a moment away.
