A packhorse bridge crosses the River Brue at Bruton, an old wool town of handsome stone with a hilltop dovecote looking down over the roofs. On its edge, Hauser & Wirth has drawn artists to its galleries and garden-lovers to the Oudolf Field. The station is a short walk from the centre, on the line between Castle Cary and the south-west.
