Avoch is a working fishing village on the south coast of the Black Isle, a tight run of terraced cottages along the Moray Firth with boats still tied up in the harbour. It held onto its own distinctive dialect long after its neighbours lost theirs, a legacy of the close, self-contained fishing community here. A nice quiet stop on a Black Isle loop.
