Where the Caledonian Canal finally meets the sea, Clachnaharry sea lock lets boats down into the Beauly Firth just north-west of Inverness. It’s a good spot to watch the lock working and take in the wide firth views, with an open towpath along the water. Inverness station is under 3km back towards town.
