Inverness Cathedral (St Andrew's)
The first new Protestant cathedral finished in Britain since the Reformation, St Andrew’s stands on the west bank of the Ness in Inverness. Alexander Ross designed it in Gothic Revival style, built in red sandstone between 1866 and 1869; the two great spires he planned were never added. It’s open to visitors, and the older Old High Church is a short walk upstream. Inverness station is just across the river.
