The Old High Church stands on a mound above the Ness and is the oldest place of worship in Inverness, with a congregation traced back to Celtic times. After Culloden in 1746, Jacobite prisoners were held here in the grim aftermath of the battle. The present kirk is largely 18th-century, its tower older. Usually open for services or by arrangement; the Victorian Inverness Cathedral is just downstream. Inverness station is a short walk.
