A low finger of shingle poking into the Moray Firth narrows off Fortrose, Chanonry Point is one of the best places in Britain to watch bottlenose dolphins from dry land. Come on a rising tide, when they chase salmon through the fast water close in. There’s a wee Stevenson lighthouse of 1846 at the tip, and a small car park that fills up quickly.
