The Stray is a 200-acre ring of protected common that loops right around central Harrogate, kept open for the public since the 18th century. It’s lovely for a wander, a picnic or a run, and puts on a show of crocuses in early spring. Free and always open, with Harrogate station on its edge — handy if you’re also calling at Bettys or the Turkish Baths.
