Harrogate’s Victorian pleasure gardens were laid out in 1887 for Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, on the Bogs Field ground that holds the largest cluster of mineral springs in England — some 36 wells. There are formal beds, a model boat pond and the 1933 Sun Colonnade for a sheltered stroll. Free and open all year. From the top end, a path through the Pinewoods climbs to RHS Garden Harlow Carr; the station is under a mile the other way.
