Bettys began in Harrogate in 1919 and has been a Yorkshire fixture ever since, known for its fat rascals — a big fruity, cherry-and-almond bake — and its afternoon tea. The grand flagship cafe sits on Parliament Street in the town centre, a short step from the Turkish Baths and from Harrogate station. Expect a queue at busy times; they don’t take bookings for the main cafe.
