Walk out along the rebuilt pier — the current deck was finished in 2001, reaching some 190 metres into the North Sea — for the daft delights of Tim Hunkin’s slot machines. His hand-built, gently satirical arcade, the Under the Pier Show, is the real reason to come, along with a water clock that performs on the half-hour. There are cafés and a bar too. Back in Southwold you can tour Adnams.
