Blythburgh’s Holy Trinity earns its nickname, the Cathedral of the Marshes: a huge 15th-century wool church rising from the reeds above the Blyth estuary, visible for miles around. Rebuilt between about 1412 and 1480, it keeps a hammerbeam roof lined with carved wooden angels, their arms spread the length of the nave. Open daily. Halesworth station is about 7km to the north-west.
