Dunwich was one of England’s great medieval ports until the sea took it, street by street, over several centuries; the last of its churches went over the cliff by the 1920s. What remains is a single lane, a shingle beach, a heath behind and a small museum that tells the story. The Ship at Dunwich does food and rooms near the beach car park.
