One of the best land-based places in Britain to watch wild bottlenose dolphins, the Scottish Dolphin Centre sits at Spey Bay where the river meets the sea, in a restored 18th-century ice house. Entry is free, with donations welcome, and the shingle spit outside is the spot to scan from. Bring binoculars and give it time.
