Penarth Pier reaches out over the Bristol Channel from the seafront below the town, opened in 1895. At its landward end stands the Art Deco Pavilion added in 1929, its white curves now housing a cinema, gallery and café after a full restoration. You can walk the deck for views across to the Somerset coast, and paddle steamers still call in season. The station is about ten minutes’ walk up into Penarth.
