A wood-fired Finnish sauna on the beachfront at Burghead, looking across Burghead Bay and the Moray Firth

The stove here is a Narvi, handmade in Finland, with a big load of stones meant to give the slow, heavy steam of a traditional Finnish smoke sauna. Up to eight share a communal session, and you cool off in the North Sea or with buckets of cold water if you’re not keen on swimming. The Cable Cafe is a few minutes’ walk along the beach.
