Cressing Temple Barns
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
The Barley Barn here was raised for the Knights Templar around 1220, and has a fair claim to be the oldest timber-framed barn in the world; a second great barn, the Wheat Barn, followed a few decades later. Both stand near Braintree beside a walled Tudor garden, open on advertised days for a charge. White Notley station is barely a mile to the west.
