Beeleigh Abbey is a medieval house on the Chelmer near Maldon, built into the surviving fragments of a Premonstratensian abbey founded in 1180 and now Grade I listed. Around it lie three acres of gardens: mature trees, a formal rose garden, cottage and bog plantings, a wildflower meadow and long mixed borders running down towards the tidal river. The gardens open on a handful of advertised days each year, tickets booked ahead, with an admission charge; the house itself stays private.
