The largest group of Roman burial mounds in northern Europe sits in a clump of trees at Bartlow, near the Essex border. Four grassy cones survive of an original seven; the tallest rises about 15 metres, the biggest Roman barrow north of the Alps. A footpath runs up to them from the village, where The Three Hills makes an easy pairing. Great Chesterford station is around 8km west.
