The Rose and Crown has stood on the green at Bainbridge since 1445, making it one of Yorkshire’s oldest inns. The village keeps an ancient forest horn, still sounded on winter evenings to guide travellers home, and sits beside the River Bain — reckoned England’s shortest river. Rooms above, if you want to stay over. Garsdale station is about 14km to the west.
