The Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes is the home of real Yorkshire Wensleydale, which carries protected PGI status and can only be made here in the dale. There’s a visitor centre with a gallery overlooking the cheese-making, a shop and tasting counters, and a cafe. The centre and shop are open daily; the full experience carries a charge. Wallace and Gromit fans will recognise the name. Garsdale station is about 9km west.
