The Red Lion at Snargate, out on Romney Marsh, is one of Kent’s most unspoilt pubs — no bar counter, ales poured straight from the cask, and rooms hung with 1940s and Women’s Land Army posters. Still known as Doris’s after its long-time landlady, it’s on CAMRA’s national inventory of historic pub interiors. Bring cash. Appledore station is about 2km to the north-west.
