St Dunstan’s is a remote church out on Romney Marsh at Snargate, now looked after by the Churches Conservation Trust and open daily. On the north wall is a faded medieval painting of a ship, and the church has a smuggling past — its vestry was reputedly used to stash contraband in the early 19th century. Appledore station is about 2km to the north-west.
