The Old Forge at Inverie holds a genuine record: the remotest pub on the British mainland. There are no roads in or out of Knoydart, so you reach it either on the passenger ferry from Mallaig (about a 7-mile sea crossing) or by an 18-mile hillwalk over the Munros. Community-owned since 2022, it serves local ales and seafood, and after a journey like that the welcome tastes all the better. The Mallaig ferry is the sensible option — check the timetable before you set off.
