Inverie is the only real village in Knoydart, and there’s no road in: you either take the passenger ferry from Mallaig across Loch Nevis, or walk 18 miles over the hills. The reward is The Old Forge, recognised as the remotest pub on the British mainland and now owned by the local community. A genuinely off-grid place to stay.
