Run by chef-patron Laurie Gear and his wife Jacqueline since 2002, Artichoke serves refined modern British tasting menus from a period building on Old Amersham’s high street, often with ingredients foraged from the hills around. The cooking is careful and seasonal. It sits right on the edge of the Chilterns, an easy pairing with a stretch of the Chiltern Way or the parkland at Shardeloes.
