Up a lane at Forty Green near Beaconsfield, the Royal Standard of England is a rambling old freehouse, dark with low beams and full of salvaged wood, brass and stained glass. It claims a very long history, and parts of the building are genuinely centuries old. Food is served all day. Beaconsfield station is about 2km south-east.
