The flint church at Little Missenden holds a set of medieval wall paintings, limewashed over for centuries and uncovered in 1931. The largest is a St Christopher carrying the Christ child, set on the wall opposite the door where travellers could catch sight of it as they passed. It stands in the quiet village a short way from Great Missenden; opening is limited, so time a visit for when it’s unlocked.
Full name: Church of St John the Baptist, Little Missenden
