The world’s oldest original model village opened here in 1929, when the accountant Roland Callingham laid out a miniature 1930s England — towns, farms, an airfield and a running model railway — across the gardens of his Beaconsfield home. It has kept that period look ever since. There’s an admission charge, and it sits barely a step from Beaconsfield station, on the edge of Beaconsfield.
