Oliver Cromwell moved his family into this timber-framed house in Ely in 1636, when he inherited the job of collecting the cathedral’s tithes, and lived here for a decade before the Civil War made his name. It’s now a small museum of his life and the war, with rooms dressed to the period. Paid entry, close to the centre of Ely. Ely station is about 1km away.
