Stretham Old Engine is a steam beam-engine of 1831, built by the Butterley Company to scoop fen water up into the Old West River, its tall chimney a landmark on the flat land south of Ely. It worked until 1925 and is the last complete drainage engine of its kind left in the Fens. Open on occasional days; the village of Stretham also keeps a restored smock mill. Ely station is about 7km north-east.
