Two medieval churches share one steep churchyard here, a survival owed to the village’s two old manors. St Mary’s, with its striking tower rising from square base to octagon, is the working parish church; St Cyriac’s, kept by the Churches Conservation Trust, stands a few steps away. Above them on the ridge turn a pair of restored windmills, including working Foster’s Mill. In Swaffham Prior; St Mary’s is usually open by day.
