Come in late winter for the snowdrops: Anglesey Abbey has one of the country’s largest collections, threaded through a Winter Garden the National Trust laid out in 1998. The wider grounds are the work of the 1st Lord Fairhaven, who gave the Jacobean house and its avenues, statuary and working watermill to the Trust. Open most of the year with an admission charge; members go free. Waterbeach station is about 4km north-west.
