Hanley Park is a Victorian municipal park in the middle of Stoke-on-Trent, laid out by the landscape architect Thomas H. Mawson and opened in 1897. It’s a proper set piece of that era of park-making: a lake with fountains, a bandstand, a crown green bowling green and broad tree-lined walks, all free to walk into at any time. There’s also an all-weather sports zone and a weekly Saturday parkrun. Stoke-on-Trent station is a short walk away, on the park’s southern edge.
